AAT has recognised the achievements of hundreds of its members in two prestigious awards ceremonies in London.

The events, which were sponsored by AVADO, were held at the Leonardo Royal London Tower Bridge Hotel on Saturday 28 September 2019. Over 700 invited audience members joined AAT to celebrate the landmark successes of approximately 313 AAT members.

Achievements recognised at the ceremonies included:

  • 189 individuals elected to AAT full or fellow membership for the first time
  • 92 individuals elected as an AAT associate bookkeeping member
  • 32 individuals who have reached 25 years as a professional member of AAT.

The achievement ceremonies included a welcome reception where members had a chance to network and meet AAT President John Thornton and Vice-President David Frederick. Learning and Development Coach Nicola Gilfedder also gave a short presentation on AVADO as a learning provider.

John Thornton said: "I would like to congratulate each and every one of our members who were recognised at this year’s Achievement Ceremonies. All their hard work and sacrifice has been worth it. They have achieved a significant goal, and now it is time to celebrate – but also to think about looking to the future and how they will use their qualification.

"AAT members are recognised for their understanding and application of essential and advanced accountancy concepts. Their qualification provides the foundations to help them build their career and navigate the challenges ahead in a rapidly changing world."

Alice Wilcox MAAT AATQB, who was among those recognised at the ceremonies, said: "I am incredibly proud of achieving my MAAT status and thrilled that I successfully taught myself at home despite many challenges in my personal life along the way.

"My sixth form tutor was adamant that success was only achievable through university and I am immensely proud that despite not going to university I have begun a successful career and attained my accreditation with AAT.

"As a result of my MAAT status I have been promoted to Management Accountant and looking forward to my future aspirations."
