AAT confirmed today that, based on the current information and guidance, assessments will be available again from 29 June.

Since assessments were suspended on 22 March, we've been exploring options to support students and training providers whilst closely monitoring the bigger picture around coronavirus (Covid-19), including government guidance and feedback from training providers within the UK and across the globe.

In making this decision, we've considered a variety of factors, including the demand from students who are prepared and ready to sit assessments as soon as possible, consideration for students who need more time for preparation, the start of the academic year, and the opportunity to provide an early re-sit for those who need it.

Mark Farrar, CEO at AAT, said: “Our priority has been to spread resource and availability across the summer to support as many students and training providers as possible.

"As government guidance shifts its focus from lockdown to restarting economies, we're keen to provide training providers and assessment venues with opportunities for students to sit assessments and progress with their studies, where it is deemed safe and appropriate to do so within local social distancing guidelines.

"I’d like to thank all our training providers for their patience during this difficult period. We will continue to explore safe and suitable solutions to help our students on their journey to complete their qualifications.”

Social distancing and safe working guidance

AAT expects all training providers and assessment venues to act responsibly and ensure they adhere to all government rules and guidelines in relation to social distancing and working safely when offering AAT assessments on site.

Synoptic windows revised

Synoptic window dates have now been confirmed for the remainder of the year and include additional dates to help with planning and potential capacity issues due to social distancing restrictions.

Students and training providers can find full details on the results page.

In summary, these are:

  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3 (Level 6 in Scotland) synoptic: week commencing 13 July, 20 July, 17 August, 14 September, 12 October, 7 December
  • Professional Diploma in Accounting – Level 4 (Level 8 in Scotland) synoptic: week commencing 6 July, 13 July, 24 August, 21 September, 19 October, 14 December.

Level 2 synoptic assessments

In agreement with Ofqual, the UK qualifications regulator, we've already announced the intention to issue calculated results for eligible students studying the Foundation Certificate in Accounting – Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) and Foundation Diploma in Accounting and Business – Level 2.

Results will be issued to students on 13 August and, because of this exercise, we are unable to make the Level 2 synoptic assessment available until after these results are released.

The next Level 2 synoptic window will start in the week commencing 17 August.

Students and training providers can find full details on the revised synoptic windows on the results page.

Remote invigilation

As announced recently, AAT plans to develop and launch remote invigilation on a phased basis and aims to make the first phase available in August 2020. We will provide further updates on remote invigilation over the coming weeks.

More details on our assessment restart will be announced from next week through our dedicated Covid-19 updates page.
