AAT Accounting Qualifications

We offer four AAT Accounting Qualifications that each take between 6 to 18 months to complete. These qualifications can be used as a route to the AAT Accountant status (MAAT).  

Our Accounting Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Accounting (Foundation)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Accounting and Business (Foundation) - 16-19 year olds only
  • Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Advanced) 
  • Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Professional) 

If you already have some accounting experience, you should take the AAT Skillcheck online test to find the most suitable starting qualification.

Summary

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration - covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. 

 

Level 2 Diploma in Accounting and Business (Foundation) - 16-19 year olds only

Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Advanced)

  Hours 390 guided learning hours

Summary

In this qualification you will master more complex financial processes, including accounts preparation, Advanced bookkeeping, spreadsheets software, final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, costs and revenues and professional ethics.

Become an AAT Bookkeeper - professional AATQB status

On successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Advanced), a student can apply for AAT associate bookkeeping membership and achieve professional AATQB status.

 

Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Professional)

  Course length 9-18 months
  Total credits 42
  Hours 420 guided learning hours

Summary

In this qualification you will cover statements for limited companies and complex management accounting tasks, as well as optional specialist units including business tax, external auditing and credit control.

Become an AAT Accountant - professional MAAT status

On successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Professional), you will automatically become an AAT affiliate member. Once you have met our work experience requirement you can apply to become an AAT full member and achieve AAT professional MAAT status.
