- Bookkeeping membership (AATQB): Gain a professional status to demonstrate your expertise to employers and clients. Perfect for those specialising in bookkeeping or while gaining the requirements for full membership.
- Full membership (MAAT): Our internationally recognised MAAT status demonstrates that you've achieved the AAT Accounting Qualifications, and have gained work experience in finance and accounting.
- Fellow membership (FMAAT): The highest level of membership you can achieve within AAT. Members can apply for FMAAT status when they've been a MAAT for five years or more.

Be an AAT licensed member
We support more than 4,000 AAT Licensed Accountants and Bookkeepers in running their own successful practices. Find out how you can join them and become your own boss.
Once you've completed the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting you'll automatically become an affiliate member, then progress to bookkeeping or full membership.
Professional membership comes with a range of benefits, like subscription to our member magazines, events, networking opportunities, and exclusive offers on a range of products and services.
AAT requires all members to maintain the high standards expected of the profession.
Other ways to become a member
If you're a member of another professional body or have a finance degree you may be able to apply without taking AAT qualifications.
