AAT Advanced Award in GCC Value Added Tax

This qualification is available to study in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. Its principles can be used to work with VAT in any GCC member state.

How long it takes

This qualification will usually take around six to 12 weeks to complete, depending on study method and course timetable.

What it covers

This qualification will provide the essential skills and knowledge needed to ensure compliance with the VAT requirements in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

It delivers a solid foundation in the administration of VAT across business, covering areas such as why VAT is relevant to business, how to interact with tax authorities, and how to calculate VAT. Students will learn tax, finance, accountancy and business communication skills.

Syllabus

Applying VAT principles in GCC member states

This unit provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to keep their employers and clients compliant with the regulations and practices that apply to VAT on sales and purchases. The content is designed to ensure that students can perform these tasks relatively unsupervised, particularly in terms of routine and some non-routine VAT tasks. However, it is expected that the student will still require some management for more involved and intensive VAT transactions.

  • Understand and apply VAT requirements.
  • Complete VAT returns.
  • Report VAT-related information within the business in accordance with regulatory and business requirements.
  • Understand the importance of applying the ethical code's five fundamental principles when completing VAT returns and reporting VAT-related information.
