5 great reasons to join us
Becoming a professional member of AAT gives you fantastic benefits for your career:
- MAAT status
Using the letters MAAT after your name demonstrates that you are a qualified finance professional. MAAT status shows employers and clients that you have achieved a high level of knowledge and experience and are committed to maintaining these standards.
- Career development and professional support
We help you maintain the professional skills you need for a successful and rewarding career. As an AAT member you can access technical helplines covering accounting, payroll advice, insolvency and ethics when you need it. We also offer comprehensive CPD support including an online CPD Record. You can make the most of our career resources, and a huge range of AAT podcasts, masterclasses and events designed for every stage of your career.
- Networking and events
We have AAT branches across the UK. Each branch runs courses and events on all areas of accounting, tax, best practice and professional development. They offer valuable networking opportunities with finance professionals - you can meet new people, share experiences and hear from subject matter experts. Explore AAT's current programme of local and national events.
- Stay current with industry news
As a finance professional it is important to keep up with industry developments, but it can be difficult to find the time. With AAT's curated industry news we make it easy for you to stay informed. You will receive our award-winning Accounting Technician magazine and monthly e-newsletters. You can also stay up to date by reading our AAT Comment blog, joining AAT discussion forums and attending the AAT Annual Conference.
- Set up your own accountancy practice
You don’t have to be chartered to set up your own accountancy practice. As an AAT professional member you can apply to become an AAT Licensed Accountant or Licensed Bookkeeper, regulated and supported by AAT. Once approved you can set up your own practice, offering services including bookkeeping, payroll, accounts preparation and VAT.
